The union of God and Israel, as groom and bride, is the theme of the Song of Songs. It took place in the Temple.
We bring fire – passion – to the altar from below, and the fire of God descends from heaven to unite with our fire.

The Cherubim stood over the Holy Ark which contained the Tablets of the Covenant upon which were engraved the Ten Commandments.
The Ark is the womb. The Tablets are the fetus. The Cherubim are the loving parents.
Conception takes place in the Holy of Holies, above time and space, where the Divine Presence is revealed.
Procreation reveals Infinite Light. Infinite Light = "And you shall love [God with all your heart and all your soul and all your might]."
